All four of our regular exams this semester will be given during classtime (2:00pm - 3:15pm) in UTC 2.102A. The following information is for ALL our exams - including the final exam except it will be in another room and at a different time. If any differences in protocol come up we will specify them on the Exam Review page.
The cover page with the periodic table will be very similar to the one available in the appendix of the ChemBook website which has a PDF of the Periodic Table + Constants and Conversion Factors. This is very similar to the one on the gchem site. Several are listed there in the appendix for Exam preparation.

Each exam will cover the topics that were presented in the book, in class, and on the homework. Learning outcomes for each chapter are provided via the Exam review pages which are all listed on our class website. A comprehensive understanding of the topics along with the calculations and concepts for each chapter will be necessary in order to make high scores on the exams. Although there is a lot of common knowledge in the chapters, most students will need to study intensely for each exam. Most students cannot do well on the exams if they never study nor do all the homework.
Each exam will have 20 multiple choice questions unless told otherwise. This means that each question is worth 5 points. We might occasionally decide to push that ±1 point for a few questions - meaning 4 and 6 points for a handful of questions. The point values (if not all equal) are included with all questions so you'll see the points.
It is very very important that you enter your answers into the online bubblesheet. You must fully enter your info and answers. Good news - the program will alert you if you don't answer all the questions. Double check that all is "good" and then click the SUBMIT button. You will then get a confirmation page showing all your submitted answers and a time stamp.
Get it Right! Your first and last name, uteid, and version number
TIME is CRITICAL!!! You HAVE to click that SUBMIT button by 3:15 PM or you will receive a penalty. The penalty gets bigger the longer you take past 3:15 PM. The penalty is basically -5 points (one questions worth) per 30 seconds late. It is definitely not worth it to wait on this. SUBMIT by 3:15 or your score will be docked.
SHOW that CONFIRMATION SCREEN before you leave the room. A TA or proctor or Dr. McCord needs to SEE it before you go. You should also do a screen shot of that screen for future reference if need be. After your screen shot, CLOSE the browser window. Please please please close the window/page. Multi-submits are bad and leaving the window open can cause this with careless students. I might decide to impose a penalty for multi-submits as well. So please shut it down.
