1/23 All the absolute thermodynamic state functions (U, H, S, and G) increase when you increase the temperature, yes, even G. All increase EXCEPT G. The fact that G = H - TS means that G must DECREASE as temperature increases. Once again, I must warn that this is G and not ΔG.
4/3 Number 6 on Homework08 needed to be killed because the problem failed to solve properly for Ksp = x (.05 + 2x)2. He said the 2x can't be ignored. Number 6 is just fine - it is NOT a molar solubility problem and therefore the "+2x" term doesn't belong in the Ksp expression in the first place. You just solve for [Pb2+]. Ksp = [Pb2+](0.05)2 and you get [Pb2+] = 0.0068 M. This was all explained at the first part of class on Thursday, 4/5.
